- What was your career journey that led you to joining DeNexus?
I have been working in the technology space for 12 years. Throughout my career in the Software & Data space, I have worked as as a Software Engineer, Software Architect, Data Engineer, and Data Architect. I have always enjoyed working with other colleagues in my space and learning from them.
For the past seven and a half years, I have worked in the cybersecurity domain as a Lead Data Engineer, responsible for developing and maintaining the cybersecurity data platform for a Fortune 100 financial services organization, which was a very interesting part of my career. Working there taught me a lot about cybersecurity and why it’s critical for organizations in all domains. I also realized how software, data, and cybersecurity merge together to enable and empower key cybersecurity and business stakeholders regarding the posture of cybersecurity risk in their organizations.
With that background, when I was introduced to DeNexus about my role and how unique & critical their offerings are for the industrial organizations, underwriters, reinsurers, and ILS investors, I couldn’t resist being a part of it.
- Where will you be based?
.
I am based out of Charlotte, North Carolina
- What is an average day in the life of a Software Data Engineer?
Data Engineering has become an integral part of any data-driven organization that wants to empower their operations and decisions based on the power of data which can be used to make informed and sound business decisions and drive critical business applications. My responsibility is to build, manage, and maintain the Denexus inside-out data platform to enable other teams to self-service high quality data while performing data operations to support their day-to-day actions. In addition, I work closely with Platform, Data Science, and Engineering teams, as well as Product and Tech teams.
- How does your role fit into DeNexus’ mission to become the global standard of industrial cyber risk quantification for agencies, shareholders, investors, boards, and risk transfer market?
To become a global standard of industrial cyber risk quantification and unlocking the risk capital markets to underwrite industrial cyber risk at scale, Denexus must solve a complex problem which means we need a reliable, sustainable, and a scalable data platform to empower our key stakeholders and other data-driven teams to work efficiently to take us one step closer towards that goal every single day. My role is to enable that capability for Denexus by working closely with other members of the Denexus family.
